Stops on the trip
Kotor Bay – Herceg Novi – Risan – Perast –Gospa Island – Budva – Petrovac – Cetinje
The first stop on this tour takes us to the city of Herceg Novi located in the beautiful bay of Kotor. We will then travel on to Risan, seat of the legendary Queen Teuta, the ancient city of Perast and Gospa Island.
You will visit the UNESCO city of Kotor with its imposing ramparts, the maritime museum and St. Tripun Brake Cathedral. Breathtaking scenic views accompany us en route to Budva and Petrovac and you will view the former summer residence of Yugoslavian royalty at Milocer. The former Royal Palace and the monastery are part of our agenda in Centinje, the former capital of Montenegro. Our tour also takes us to Budva and its romantic Old Town. This is one of the oldest cities in the Mediterranean region and was once seat of Phonic King Kadmo.
The itinerary takes us through Pastrovacka Gora to the village of Virpazar on Lake Skadar, the largest lake on the Balkan peninsula and a paradise for bird watchers. You can enjoy the wonderful scenery during a boating trip on the lake.
Next stop is the coastal town of Bar which exudes an Oriental atmosphere in the markets, bazaars and the ruins in the Old Town. Gnarled olive trees grow all over and their fruit is processed to oil in nearby factories.
Passing numerous bays and little villages, our itinerary takes us to Ulcinj, in the 15th century as it was under Turkish rule known as the City of Pirates. After exploring the city you can relax on Montenegro’s longest beach – Velika Plaza – 13 kilometres long and 60 metres wide.
The national parks Biogradsaka Gora and Durmitor with wonderful scenery and an abundance of wild animals are highlights of the tour. The finale of the trip is a visit to Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.
