Viminacium is an archaeological site, an ancient Roman town, near the old town Kostolac. It is situated 100 km from Belgrade. A Roman military camp was established in the first century and lasted until the beginning of the seventh century. It was one of the most significant camps on the river Danube. Today, Viminacium is a very remarkable location, reminiscent of ancient glory, splendour and the decay of the Roman Empire that attracts the attention of both national and international visitors.
ITINERARY:
09:00 departure from Republic Square
10:30 arrival at Viminacium. Sightseeing tour of Roman town with local guide
13:30 refreshment in café-bar Viminacium with local wine tasting; departure to Smederevo Town, site of the Roman settlements of Mons Aureus and Vincea.
14:15 arrival at Smederevo; lunch at restaurant in city center;
15:30 City tour through Smederevo with tourist guide (visit to Smederevo fortress, Cross tower, Church of Dormition, Karadjordje’s mulberry tree, Church of St. George, The Smederevo Grammar School,The municipal court, The Main City Square).
17:00 returning to Belgrade.
